In this article, I’ll demonstrate my GTX 1070 Overclock Settings Mining 2021-2022. By combining these settings, I achieve a speed of roughly 28 plus megahertz per second, and the GPU we’re discussing today is this one, the GTX 1070. Let’s overclock my GTX 1070.
This is only a teaser of my overclocking settings, which indicates that the GTX 1070 will receive 28.10 megahertz per second when I apply them.
Also, a disclaimer: If you choose to use these settings for your GTX 1070, you are solely liable for any resulting damage. If you are unsure that you want to do this, refrain from doing so.
GTX 1070 Overclock Settings Mining 2021 – 2022
Since I am the only one demonstrating what works for me, by all means, let’s add some overclocking parameters to this GTX 1070. If you don’t already have it, simply launch a browser, go to Google.com, and search for “msi off the burner,” then click this link to go to msi.com. Okay, so first we’re going to install msi off the burner.

- Core Voltage (VDD): NA
- Power Limit (%): 72% or 140w
- Core Clock (CClock): +100
- Memory Clock (MClock): +1000 or 2000
- Fan Speed (%): 75% or more/less based on your temps.
Go to this msi afterburner download page, simply download and install the software, and then you should notice an icon for msi afterburner. All right, now we’re going to open msi off the burner. Click on yes.
If your layout differs from what we can see presently, you may always go to settings and select user interface. If you want to have a bigger layout or one that is smaller, like this, go to the user interface scaling properties and select the msi Mystic of the Burner skin by Drex Design. Then, just click on apply and then just click on ok, and we should now have the same layout as I do.
Okay, without any overclocking settings, my msi GTX 1070 runs at 25.98 mega hash per second. This is where we’ll start, and our goal is to increase that to above 28 megahertz per second. To do this, go to your msi of the burner, click on this arrow, and then locate your GTX 1070. Make sure you have the right GPU—mine is a Geforce GTX 1070—then click on it and simply dismiss it by clicking on the arrow. Okay, so first we’re going to go to core clock, and I’m going to modify this to plus 160; push enter.
How Much Power Does a 1070 Use Mining?
After that, we’ll move on to the memory clock, so let’s click here and I’ll add 450 like so hit enter and we have power limit i’m going to add this at 65 like so hit enter and now you can choose if you want to have out to fan speed or you can just uncheck this one and increase the fan speed to perhaps 70 or 80. In order to determine how hot your card will be, you must test it out. If your score is 66 or lower, T-Rex will consider you to be in the green zone; just fiddle with the fan speed.
I’ll just select the method, and then all that’s left is for us to click on this one check mark to apply the settings to our software miner. In my instance, I’m using t-rex, so let’s have a look.
Now that we have 26.52 megahertz per second, 27.45, and 28.06 megahertz per second, as well as 62 celsius, we can see that the color green indicates that the temperature is not too high.
So first things first, let’s start up msi afterburner, and that’s all at stock settings now I’m just going to start by changing the fan speed to 80 and then I’m going to fire up our miner, which is t-rex miner. While that miner is starting up, I’m just going to tell you about three things that you need to keep in mind while overclocking. The first is that overclocking is done entirely at your own risk.

The second point is that even if you happen to have the exact same version of a card as I do, it doesn’t guarantee that my settings will just magically work for you because we’re adding numbers to these cards that weren’t designed to be there.
The third and final point is that when I overclock, my figures will differ from yours because each cards have unique variances. Overclocking is all trial and error.
It seems that our card has settled at around 26.19 megahashes per second, but what I can also see here is that the card is getting a little bit hotter than the cards you usually get f or this price range. So that’s what I don’t do, I just try to get the highest hash rate that I can get while keeping the card stable all right.
Rather than 80, let’s go 90. Oh yes, we can hear the fan running now. I don’t think it will make much of a difference, but let’s err on the side of caution. It actually reduced the temperature by about two degrees Celsius. Anyhow, let’s start overclocking. The first thing that I always do is I just pull the memory clock all the way down to see what happens. I can see that we’re immediately starting to lose some hash rate here. We’re down to 23.93.
We’re back up to 26.18 now, my gauge actually, so i’m just going to pull the core clock all the way down to see what happens. Yeah so we’re starting to lose hash rates we’re down to 24.39 so i’m just going to pull the core clock all the way down to see what happens. So now i’m expecting it to settle back at around 26.16 megahashes a second, which is where it was before I pulled the memory clock down.
Best Overclock Settings for GTX 1070 Mining
which is where it was before I pulled it down all right and we’re back to 26.19 mega hash per second now all right so what I’m going to do now is i’m going to start increasing the memory clock typically what I do is I do one big jump first and then I do smaller incremental jumps and I see what happens along the way so let’s start by putting the memory clock at let’s say 400 just to see what happens.
Our next move will depend on what happens, but with the 1070, I don’t expect much to happen from increasing the memory clock, so I’m just going to let it settle and see what it says. and what we’re looking for now is does this increase our hatch power does it lower our hash power does we get a crash does nothing happen? Okay, it appears that not much has changed at all. We may have added a maximum of 0.2 megahashes per second.
I’m going to push it a little bit more, so by another 200 to 600 we’re now at plus 600 on the memory clock, and I’m going to apply that Okay, so it appears that pushing our memory clock doesn’t do very much of anything on this 1070, we’re still at about 26.2 mega hash, so what i’m going to do is i’m going to leave the memory clock for now and perhaps we’ll come back to it later.
very good I’m going to push it another 25 jump plus 125 apply that, and we’ll see where that settles. We seem to have settled around 27.81 megahash a second. I’m going to push it another 25 jump plus 175 apply that, and we’ll see where that gets us. We seem to have settled at 28.19 mega hash a second. I’m going to push it another 25 jump plus 175 apply that, and it seems to have settled at 28.47 mega hash.
Is the GTX 1070 Good for mining?
It seems to have settled at 29.22 mega hashes per second now, so let’s continue pushing it. I’ll push it another 25 so that we’re now applying that and going 225 on the core clock.
Okay, so we’re back and we’re mining steadily at 28.86 megahashes per second once more. I figured we’d do now is go back to our memory clock again so let’s let’s start by pushing that to 800 and see if that gains of anything so that’s up from 600 to 800 and let you see if that does anything at all but no, that doesn’t seem to have done very much of anything so what i’m going to do instead is i’m
We’re starting to lose mega hash now that we’re down to 28.52, so I’m just going to put that back to 400 and say that we’re happy with the memory clock there. I’m just going to wait for it to settle back at around 28.85 ish and then we’ll tackle the power limits together, so while I wait for the car to settle back at 28.85 m, let’s do 200 on our memory clock and see what happens.
and that is for the entire rig, which is just a computer with a single graphics card slot that I use as our test rig. Let’s see what we can do to lower that, but as I said, I don’t overclock to try to optimize for efficiency; instead, I just try to get the highest hash rate that I can get in a stable way, and then I just reduce the power limit a little bit if I can without losing very much hash rate.
I’m going to lower our power limit, starting by lowering it from 100 to 90, and let’s see what happens. Immediately, we’re down to about 157 watts on the wall, so let’s see if we’re losing some hash rate or if we’re still able to push it. Okay, so it appears that we are losing some hash rate because we’ve dropped to 28.45 megahertz per second, so I’m going to raise the power limit back.
The efficiency is like at 100% we’re back at 28.84 mega hash a second we’re at 167 watts on the wall and according to our miner we’re doing around 200 kilo hash per watt what i’m going to do now is i’m just going to power limit it down to a power limit of 100. It seems like it’s actually settled still a little lower than what it was at 100 power limit.
It’s tricky, but I think I’ll just split the difference here and go with an 85 power limit because I don’t think I want to run this card at 100 power limit you. We seem to have settled at around 26.8 mega hash now that we’ve lost about two mega hashes per second but we’re down to 133 132 watts at the wall and our reported efficiency is 200 240 ish kilo hash per watt so hmm it’s tricky
I’m pretty satisfied with these numbers, so let’s see where that settles on the wall. Hey so I was just editing this video and I realized I forgot to mention that of course after you overclocked your card and you’re happy with your settings what you should always do is just let it run on those settings for you.
