In this article, we will show you how to set up a Solana Metamask Setup. We will also show you how to use the wallet to send and receive payments. The instructions in this article are based on the Metamask browser extension. If you don’t have Metamask installed, please go ahead and do that now. Once you have Metamask installed, come back here and we’ll get started!
The first thing you need to do is create a new account in Metamask. To do this, click on the “Create Account” button.
Enter your account name and password, then click “Create Account”.
Once your account has been created, you will be taken to the main screen. Here, you will see your Solana address and balance. If you don’t have any SOL tokens yet, don’t worry! We’ll show you how to get some in a minute.
Solana Metamask Setup

Now that you have a Solana address, let’s go ahead and add some SOL tokens to it. To do this, we’ll need to use an exchange. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will be using Binance.
Go to Binance.com and create an account if you don’t already have one. Once you’re logged in, go to the “Deposit & Withdraw” page.
On this page, find the currency you want to deposit (in this case, SOL) and click on the “Deposit” button.
You will be given a Solana address to send your tokens to. Copy this address and head back over to Metamask.

In Metamask, click on the “Send” button. Paste in the Solana address that you got from Binance and enter the amount of SOL that you want to send. Then click “Submit”.
Once your transaction has been confirmed, you will see the SOL tokens in your Metamask wallet! You can now use these tokens to send and receive payments.
Setting up a new Metamask account
If you don’t already have a Metamask account, go to [metamask.io](metamask.io) and click “Get Metamask”. This will take you to the Chrome Web Store – add the extension to your browser.

Once it’s installed, open the extension and click “Create a Wallet”. From there, you’ll be given a seed phrase consisting of 12 words. **Write this down somewhere safe – if you lose access to your account, this is the only way to recover it! Once you have your seed phrase, click “I’ve written it down”.
You’ll then be asked to create a password – make sure this is something strong that you won’t forget! Once you have a password, you’ll be taken to your Metamask dashboard.
On the left-hand side, you’ll see your account address and balance. This is your public Solana address – anyone can send SOL to this address, but only you can access the funds with your seed phrase and password.
To the right of your balance, there are three dots – click these and select “Settings”. From here, scroll down to the bottom and click “Advanced Settings”. Enable both “Use solana-web” and “Blockchain API URL”, then copy and paste the following into the solana-web URL box:
`wss://devnet.solana.com/` . Save these changes and exit the settings menu.
You should now be able to see your SOL balance in the Metamask extension! Congratulations, you’ve successfully set up a Solana wallet. In our next post, we’ll show you how to use it. Stay tuned!

Importing your wallet backup
If you’ve already created a Solana wallet elsewhere, you can import it into Metamask by going to the “Accounts” tab and selecting “Import Account” from the dropdown menu. You’ll be prompted to enter your account’s seed phrase, which you should have backed up when you first created the wallet. Once you’ve entered your seed phrase and hit “Import”, your account will be imported into Metamask and ready to use!
If you haven’t created a Solana wallet yet, don’t worry – it’s easy to do right from within Metamask. Just head over to the “Accounts” tab and select “Create Account” from the dropdown menu. You’ll be given a list of options for how to create your account, but we recommend selecting “SOLana” from the list.
Once you’ve selected “SOLana”, you’ll be prompted to enter a name for your account and choose a password. Make sure to choose a strong password that you won’t forget, as this will be used to encrypt your account seed phrase. Once you’ve entered a name and password, hit “Create Account” and your Solana wallet will be created!

Sending and receiving tokens
with your Solana wallet is simple. Just click on the “Send” or “Receive” buttons in the top-right corner of the Metamask window.
For sending tokens, you’ll need to specify the amount you want to send, the address you’re sending it to, and (if applicable) the gas fee. The gas fee is a small amount of SOL that’s used to pay for transaction fees on the Solana network.

Receiving tokens is just as easy – when someone sends you SOL or another supported token, you’ll see a notification in Metamask with all the details. Just click “Accept” and the tokens will be added to your wallet.
That’s all there is to it! With Metamask and Solana, you can easily send and receive SOL and other supported tokens without having to worry about managing private keys or signing transactions yourself. So what are you waiting for? Give it a try today!
